For Mom

This has been a work-in-progress for my mom.  I don't know how I feel about it anymore, but it's extremely personal, so I should share it.

For You Again
by Matt Catania

She had her first taste of
death
when she was
12

She liked it

She had her first taste of
Love
when she was
much
young
er

It broke her collarbone

from a touch
TOUCH!  TOUCH!  TOUCH!
of the Godking

He ruled the women
with his manly fist

Run away
oh run away
please please

please
run away

She learned too well
too early
Life ain’t easy –
teachers pet –

She never had a chance
Life isn’t FAIR

She grabbed chance
and held it hostage she
took it for her own she
wouldn’t back down she
stood tall held high she
was
tougher than ANY OF YOU.

(was.)

Death had his first taste of
her
when she was 12

he liked it

Take Love
make Love
if life won’t
give Love

oh she did.
SHE
TOOK
what SHE DESERVED

Love never tried
to escape
Love never tried
anything else

Love was cunning
and lazy
Love stopped eating
and drinking
Love gave up
Love didn’t fight back
and Love died

She did her best
She deserved better.
with good enough
SHE DESERVED BETTER…

SHE WAS BETTER!

Life smoked her dry
left her to die
at 47.

Life

She loved it
